Serve as an adult basic education (ABE) coordinator between the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education Adult Basic Education Division, ABE programs, local workforce development boards, and business and industry. Position supports ABE on both a state and regional level. Provide leadership, professional development, technical assistance, and monitoring of ABE programs. Assist the Adult Basic Education Division in the organization and operation of the unit responsible for overseeing adult education; literacy; workplace adult education and literacy activities; family literacy activities; English language acquisition activities; integrated English literacy and civics education; workplace preparation activities; and integrated education and training that provide adult education concurrently and contextually for the purpose of educational and career advancement. Position based in Stillwater, OK but may consider field-based office location. Requires extensive travel and occasional overnight stays. When occasional job functions are performed within a correctional environment, entry and exit from the workplace will be controlled by correctional facility. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: REQUIRED: · Bachelor’s degree PREFERRED: · Master’s degree or a current teaching certificate · Three years’ experience working in an education setting · Experience in adult education ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Provide leadership and guidance to adult education administrators that drives policy and decision-making in order to better align ABE with workforce needs and transition ABE students from education to the workforce through postsecondary education, internships, apprenticeships, and other on-the-job training. Conduct visits and provide frequent communication with adult education providers and workforce boards in order to assist stakeholders in developing new initiatives and create and implement new policies. · Foster relationships and serve as liaison between ABE programs, postsecondary institutions, business and industry, and workforce boards that focus on exploring partnership opportunities in order to integrate adult education with workplace and career preparation. · Provide and coordinate professional development (PD) and instructional support for training local directors and coordinators in AEFLA regulations and state procedures and rules and promoting best practices in instructional design and delivery. · Serve as a member of various state and national leadership committees that impact adult basic education and drive policy and decision-making, which may include but are not limited to high school equivalency advisory committees and workforce committees, as assigned by the state director of career and technology education. · Provide leadership and guidance to adult education programs in creating and cultivating a culture that assists students in overcoming barriers and obstacles in order to obtain their high school equivalency. Work with adult education providers to increase the quality of adult education and increase opportunities for participation in adult education programs for eligible individuals. · Provides ongoing technical assistance to local adult education directors and teachers in the implementation of all areas of AEFLA, including compliance with federal and state regulations, selection and use of appropriate assessments and instructional strategies, and selection of curriculum. · Monitors adult education and literacy programs in assigned regions through desktop monitoring and onsite visits and ensures corrective action plans are put into place when findings are present. Provides assistance to achieve compliance in addressing corrective actions. · Ensure the implementation of English as a Second Language (ESL) and Integrated English Literacy and Civic Education (IELCE) initiatives in the state. · Assists with the preparation of the annual AEFLA reports, including the annual Oklahoma AEFLA state plan and the NRS end of year report. Salary/Benefits: $56,985.95 - $63,421.34 commensurate with education or experience.
