EMPLOYMENT/ TRANSITION/ DRIVER’S LICENSE EXAMINER SPECIALIST Skills Center School System
Develop a network of resources to ensure the employment and transition of Skills Centers graduates back into society. Identify and remove employment/transitional barriers facing Skills Centers students prior to and following release from DOC custody. Research and negotiate court costs, fines, and restitution. Work with Skills Centers students to pay fines against and acquire an Oklahoma Driver’s License.
Job functions will be performed within a correctional environment working with incarcerated individuals. Entry and exit from the workplace may be controlled by correctional facility.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
= Five years’ experience in Career and Technology Education, Driver’s Education, Law Enforcement with a Driver Instructor Development course certification, or related field
PREFERRED:
= Bachelor’s degree
= Experience as a Driver’s License Examiner, Teacher/Instructor, Counselor, or Student Services Specialist.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist Skills Center’s staff and graduates in locating and utilizing resources pertaining to employment, transportation, clothing, identification, transitional housing, emergency food, etc.
2. Develop relationships with business and industry to ensure employment opportunities for Skills Centers Graduates.
3. Develop relationships with transitional resources throughout the state to assist Skills Center’s graduates.
4. Communicate job opportunities, housing resources and other transition necessities to all Skills Centers staff throughout the state.
5. Participate in development and implementation of individual student success plans prior to and after graduation from Skills Center programs.
6. Support site-based staff in procuring valid identification documents, such as Social Security Card, Driver License/State Identification Card, and Certified Birth Certificate.
7. Coordinate job search activities with business and industry, Skills Center’s staff, the Department of Corrections, Workforce Oklahoma Partners, and other entities throughout the state.
8. Maintain accurate and current information on the SCSS Electronic Management System.
9. Develop and maintain partnerships with Community Correctional Centers, Halfway Houses, and Probation/Parole Districts in order to enhance reintegration of Skills Centers Graduates.
10. Coordinate/communicate student reentry activities with Skills Center’s staff.
11. Maintain awareness of local employment trends, potential employers, and community resources for SCSS graduates.
12. Initiate and maintain contact with Skills Center’s students before and after release from DOC custody.
13. Participate in professional development activities as prescribed by the Skills Centers administration.
14. Ensure safety and security in all areas of compliance with the Department of Correction’s regulations and all appropriate state and federal guidelines.
15. Maintain professional work ethics to include appearances, management of time and leave, positive attitude and work relationships.
16. Other duties as assigned.
Salary/Benefits: $51,009.95 - $56,773.95 commensurate with education or experience. Total salary and benefits package valued at $63,110.72 - $69,308.57.
