DIGITAL BINDERY JOURNEY WORKER

Curriculum & Assessment Distribution Center

Finish a wide variety of printed products in accordance with detailed order specifications, producing excellent quality bindery work.

Position officed on-site at CareerTech in Stillwater, OK. Hiring is contingent upon successful completion of background check.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalency

PREFERRED:

  • Completion of an accredited printing program
  • Working knowledge of all types of printing, prepress and bindery equipment
  • Ability to operate and assist in maintenance and repair of this equipment

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Setup, prepare and operate digital bindery equipment (DUPO DC-745 slitter/cutter eraser and the Horizon crease/stitch/folder/trimmer).
  • Setup, prepare and operate bindery machinery (cutters, wrapper, folders, collators, perfect binder, stitches, tab machine, hole drills.) Also, smaller bindery equipment as needed to produce excellent quality work with the least amount of spoilage in a safe manner.
  • Operate equipment safely and in accordance with operating guidelines.
  • Produce high quality orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Supervise helpers when operating equipment with good communications and direction.
  • Read and review the job ticket to ensure accuracy when preparing to rL1n a job. Make sure job tickets are correct and completed when finished.
  • Care and routine handling of paper, inspecting, piling and jogging.
  • Perform maintenance, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly maintenance. Storage of knives, guides, machine related equipment and tools of bindery equipment.
  • Keep necessary log on materials used. Let manager know when supplies are low.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate ideas and concepts to other employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate simple mathematical equations as applicable. (For example: add, subtract, multiply and divide.)

REASONING SKILLS: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER JOB-RELATED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Mechanical aptitude; ability to determine cause of equipment failure; ability to stand, lift and bend repeatedly and for extended periods of time; proficient physical condition; knowledge or prepress and press procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally with or without reasonable accommodations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to loud noises regularly.

SALARY/BENEFITS: $39,628.81 - $44,673.13 commensurate with education or experience.

Total salary and benefits package valued at $52,437.52 - $57,861.52.
